We started supporting men who had been sexually abused and abused in 2011. Our founder Martin found recovering from sexual abuse very difficult alone, and decided that there was a desperate need to help men through the process
Mostly there was the need to create awareness about the issues that men faced.
Since our inception MatrixMen has evolved to focus on mens mental health and wellness.
Healing men is probably the most vital of undertakings in the world today. Boys are growing up without fathers, they are confused and have np role model for positive masculinity. It is vital that we begin to heal boys and stop the decay of masculine men in the future. Lets get happy healthy men back into homes.
Absolutely. Men seem to be targeted by both men and women thus making them the most targeted victims of sexual abuse. It has taken a long time for the world to realise that the impacts of female perpetrated abuse are on the minds and emotional growth of the adult men.
The abuse might impact on the way you think about your sexuality but it does not shape your sexuality. There might be a confusion as to what you think you are but here at MatrixMen we always say, Lets start with finding out who you are first, the rest will work itself out as we go along.
You are largely responsible for the way you approach life and deal with the impact of the abuse on your life. Having someone to guide you through the recovery process will strengthen and help you limit the impact of the abuse in your life. You are able to rewrite your own story, despite the horrible impact of the abuse in your life.
We do support all victims of abuse and childhood trauma. Sexual abuse is just something that we highlight to give its victims permission to heal. Male victims are the forgotten 44 so we highlight that most as these are the men who use addiction silence , sport, sex, and anger to cope with its impacts. Men do make more of an angry impression.
We tend to place abuse into two major categories, the hard abuses, physical and sexual, and the soft abuses, mental, emotional, verbal, divorce, addiction in the home etc.
It is vital to understand that all forms of abuse shape the way that you will interact with the world, the relationships that you get into and the way you deal with your career.
So yes, we can support you when it comes to recovery from a not to brilliant upbringing.
